Q4 2020 US Android Market Performance: Top 5 Fitness & Weight Loss Apps

As the year 2020 came to a close, fitness and weight loss programs saw varied trends in user engagement on the Android platform in the United States. Sensor Tower's data offers a glimpse into how these apps fared during the fourth quarter.

Fitbit experienced a notable surge in both downloads and weekly active users, with downloads jumping from 36K to over 112K and active users increasing from 5.2M to over 5.4M by year-end. The app's revenue also showed an upward trend, closing the quarter with a peak of $411K in the last week of December.

The Planet Fitness Workouts app, though not generating significant revenue, saw an impressive increase in downloads from 36K to 69K and active users from 391K to over 540K in the final week of December, indicating a growing interest in the brand's digital fitness offerings.

Home Workout - No Equipment by Leap Fitness Group also experienced growth. This app saw its downloads climb from 30K to over 41K and its weekly active users peak at 204K in late October, although there was a slight decline to around 193K active users by the quarter's end.

VeryFitPro showed a remarkable leap in downloads in the third week of December, skyrocketing from 23K to 110K, while active users saw a peak of 278K in the same period. This could indicate a trend of users opting for wearable device companion apps.

Lastly, the Lose Weight App for Men maintained a steady performance in downloads, hovering around the 30K mark throughout the quarter, and ended with nearly 25K downloads in the last week of December. The app's weekly active users showed a slight decrease, ending the year with 138K active users.
